The Catholic Diocese of Enugu, in reaction to Father Mbaka's derogatory comments directed at the presidential flagbearer of the Labour Party, in the person of Former Governor Peter Obi, through a disclaimer, has distanced herself from the views of the controversial Rev. Fr. Mbaka of the Catholic Adoration Ministry.

In an open letter signed by Most Rev. Ernest Obodo, Rev. Fr. Wilfred Chidi, and Rev. Fr. Geoffrey Aguigwo; the Auxiliary Bishop of Enugu, the Chancellor/Secretary, and the Vicar General respectively, the Diocese stated that the views of Rev. Fr. Mbaka were solely his, and do not represent the Diocese in anyway.

We will recall that years ago, precisely days before the 2019 General Election, Rev. Father Mbaka had channeled his anger at the Former Governor of Anambra State, for not contributing monetarily to the development of the church. The vexed controversial Rev. Fr. Mbaka in reaction to Peter Obi's obvious refusal to commit himself financially to the church had cursed the Former Governor.

At the behest of the Enugu Bishop, still in 2019, Mbaka had apologised to Peter Obi. He has however, in recent times, come out to declare that his apologies of 2019 to Peter Obi was issued under duress - meaning that he never truly apologised or forgave Peter Obi, if there was something to be forgiven about.

Interesting to note is that both men, one of leadership and politics, and the other of leadership and religion are from the eastern part of Nigeria, where the ceaseless cries of political marginalization is echoed almost daily.

While the Easterners can now boast of having a good opportunity of occupying the apex office in the nation come 2023, considering that the Nigerian Youths are solidly behind Peter Obi, it will be instructive to find out if the Ibos will shelve their babyish and putrid hatred for each other, and rally around their son and brother come the General Election.

The declaration of the Ebonyi State Governor Umahi, that the people of his State will not be voting for their brother; Peter Obi, will also pose a great challenge to the Former Governor, if not corrected before 2023.
