The statement made by of one of the very many presidential hopefuls on the platform of the APC in Ogun State, yesterday dated, 2nd June, 2022 is evoking diverse emotions in Nigerians.

Ahmed Bola Tinubu in his statement, conveyed in no hidden terms, that in a country of over 200 million Nigerians, that it was his turn to become President come 2023.

In mockery of his statement, while some Nigerians, on social media platforms, have begun picking numbers, queueing up for their turn to become President, some laughed it off, while others displayed angry emotions when asked about their view.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu went further in referring to Governor Abiodun of Ogun State as 'this one' in his now infamous statement.

According to him, "It is my time, it is not about age. If it's about education, I am educated, I am experienced. I have been serving you for a long time. Bring me the presidency, it is my turn! When Atiku was flogged out of PDP by Obasanjo, he ran to merit help."

“The same with Nuhu Ribadu, he came and I backed him. It's now my turn, it has been over 25 years now that I have been serving them.”

“This is our time. The presidency is not only meant for the north. Buhari would not have been president but for me. He contested three times and failed.

“He even vowed on national TV never to contest again but I encouraged him and gave him a condition never to joke with the Yorubas. He agreed and won."

“And since he became president, I have never gotten any ministerial slot but this time, it is the turn of the Yorubas to rule, even then, it is my turn.”

This feeling of entitlement, specifically as it has to do with the apex office, is not new to Nigerians however. Years ago, Pastor Tunde Bakare, brandishly opined to his church members, that in the grand scheme of things, he was the next President to the incumbent; President Muhammadu Buhari.

Strangely, both men are vying for the same office on same platform of the APC. In view of Tinubu's comment, and Bakare's take years ago, Nigerians are becoming more interested in the APC Presidential Primary billed to hold on 6th June, 2023, if for nothing else, to know the fate of the man who thinks it his turn to rule over 200 million Nigerians, and the one who opined that in the grand scheme of things, he would be next.
